〔發音注意事項〕
茲將發音較為特殊者解釋於後,一般發音規定在此不予贅述.
1.重音(accent):
(1)一個單字若只有一母音或一個音節者即不須以重音區別之.
例如:bag[   ]; plate[    ]; probe[  ]
(2)一個單字若有兩個母音以上者(或兩個音節以上),一定有一主要重音(primary
accent)出現.
例如:bacteria[    ]; radiate[  ]
(3)一個單字有三個母音以上者(或三個音節以上),除主重音而外,多有一個或數個次重音
(second accent)出現.
例如:hypotension[     ]; granulomatosis[        ]
2.aeou四母音若處於主重音之前或後,其發音往往呈現輕聲或模糊音,(發國語注音符號之ㄜ;英語音標()音.
例如:atrophy[  ]; pharmacology[   ]
3.i發短音時:
(1)萬國音標以 或KK音標以I之短音時，其正確發音與國語注音符號之(一)相似，但須由喉部
發出,而非由齒部發出.
(2)國際音標或KK音標表示I之短音時,且不在重音處者,英美人士之發聲幾乎與音標相似,發出
與2相同之模糊音.
例如:syphilis[],可讀成 []; gastritis[ ]可讀成[]．
但一般中國人尚不習慣此種標音與發音,於此只作一種提示,特請讀者注意而已.
4.r為一子音,與母音aeiou相連時,如: ,,,及,分別發出 ,, 等音,但若其後仍有
母音相隨時,其音仍須與其後之母音相連而發出.
例如:forearm[ ]; hyperextension[ ]

〔英美發音不同之點補充說明〕
1.[]發聲應與中國注意符號(ㄜ)近似.
(1)常用之代表及音,偶而代表及,但以美語發音時[]音則近似捲舌音(ㄦ).(2),,,
四個母音,其後若無相連,而又處於主要重音之前後,常以[]音表示短促之輕聲,如:pathology
[ ],無論英美均一致單發(ㄜ)音.
2.[]發聲應與中國注音符號(ㄛ)相似.
(1)常用之代表o之短音KK發音().國際音標(英國音)發().
(2)之後若無相連,而有其他子音相隨於後,且為重音accent時,
